Weimer was put on waivers so anyone could just call his agent or the club and take him, is that right?
I have seen several posts about him being traded for and I am bit confused about this as he could just be grabbed up if anyone was so inclinde. Is it a matter of teams trying to work a deal so that the Islanders would have to pay some of his big contract? If so, then I would have to think that a deal would have been done prior to his being placed out. Just curious, if anyone can help I would appreciate it.
if you claim a guy off waivers you also get his full contract, so lots of teams would rather make a trade. they'd have to give something up but they can either get the other team to pick up part of the salary or send a player and his salary the other way to make it fit under the budget
