But those are two different things.
Re-signing Markov is one, not getting a depth Dman is another.

The people that say ''the doctors said'' aren't saying we didn't need a back up.
They're just not blaming Gauthier for the outcome of Markov's situation. That doesn't mean he didn't screw up by not bringing in depth.

Markov is not someone you let walk. I would have taken the same decision 10 times out of 10. But, I would also have signed another D that could fill in as a safety net.

The defense was just poorly built this year. But I think there's also a part of Gauthier that wanted to leave some room for youngsters when injuries happened.

Who really knows what was going on in his head, but that's my take on it.
