Thanks, if that is the case then why would the Islanders make the deal? I guess it would get them something in return for losing the player but if they are as they have said trying to lose salary then I would wonder why they would want to pick up any additional salary in a trade. I mean, if in the end you end up spending the same or close to the same amount of money that you were on a player as talented as Weimer than why trade him or put him on waivers at all?

IF another team takes him off of waivers don't the Islanders get a comp pick from the league based on his salary? If that is so then wouldn't he net them a third round or maybe a second round pick? Just curious. If that is the case then the Isles would be better off letting someone else pick him up rather than take on another teams salaried player and it would assure them a pretty decent pick too. If that was how it would go.
