Andy Murray has been the coach of the LA Kings since 1999 and the team has never finished better than 11th in the league since he took the job. Here is a list of teams that have been in the top 10 since 1999.
New Jersey Devils
St. Louis Blues
Toronto Maple Leafs
New York Islanders
San Jose Sharks
Tampa Bay Lightning
(btw most of these teams did not have Lidstrom, Yzerman, et al.... in their lineups)
That leaves 11 teams (besides the Kings) not to be in the top 10 in the last 5 seasons.
Of those 11 three have made it to the Stanley Cup finals (Anaheim, Calgary, Carolina).
That leaves these teams that have the same tendency to finish low in the standings and have no playoff success in the last 5 seasons.
New York Rangers
Columbus Blue Jackets
are expansion teams. If you keep them out of the equation then the Kings are among 6 teams who have had little or no success in the past 5 seasons. Yet Murray is doing a great job.
wow, your exhaustive analysis almost makes me change my mind... still, i'm not sure replacing murray and company would change things...
lindy ruff seems to be doing all right in buffalo right now
side question: did dave tippett's pp work real well when he was here? i think yes, but i don't remember exactly...
