The Columbus Blue Jackets’ demands for captain Rick Nash remain steep, and unless something drastic happens in the hours leading up to Monday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline, he will not be joining the Rangers for a playoff run this spring, the News has learned.

Several reports late Sunday afternoon suggested similar disinterest from the Rangers and GM Glen Sather. Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson is believed to want Brandon Dubinsky, 2009 first-round pick Chris Kreider, at least one other player or prospect and a first-round pick for Nash, the Blue Jackets’ captain.

Kreider will receive $900,000 MAX plus $300,000-$400,000 in bonuses. He will give the Rangers 3 years of cheap service. Why would they trade that?
