I see him as the true replacement for Stevenson, a tough 4th liner with some offense to contribute.

He's had between 8-12 goals per year every year of his career, except his rookie half-season. Over the course of 8 seasons, that's pretty amazing consistency. His highest point total is 31 two seasons ago, which would put him right in line with most Wild forwards.

I don't think he'll replace Matt Johnson any time soon though, as his penalties are usually in the mid 100s. In my mind I had him filed under heavyweight, but maybe not.

I find it strange that he was waived - the Isles are playing well, Weimer had 3 points in their last 3 games, including a goal and an assist in the Isles recent win over Ottawa.

All in all, another pretty good looking freebie for the Wild. He'll be a nice addition for the next home-away series against our friends from Vancouver.
