Errr, they do. Every new helmet I've seen has a sticker on the back with an expiration date 5 years out. But given the fact that the padding in the older helmets was basically useless anyway, I don't see any problem swapping it out.

Honestly, the reason I'd get a new helmet is because the new padding is much more comfortable and breathes better.
