Trade our #1 Pick This Year For..... is a scenario that could happen at the draft, and is so what would you do?

Columbus #1 ---- Nail Yakupov
Montreal #2 --- Trade to Columbus for the their 1st pick in 2013 draft.

So before you all freak out, here is the logic then flame away.

1) The more I hear about players after Yakupov; both
Mikhail Grigorenko and Alex Galchenyuk (out all year with a knee injury) have top end talent, but some scouts don't believe that they are Franchise players.

2) Seeing how far behind Columbus is to the other team and even if they trade Nash for some decent players, I think they will finish 29-30th next year. If we switch picks with them next year we will have 2 1st round picks and 3 second round picks in a DEEP DRAFT.

3) We would have a shot at a CANADIAN who DOES have the potential to be a franchise player. As a 16 year old he went head to head with Grigorenko and had 4 goals in that game!

Is there a risk that Columbus with a new GM and probably a new coach gets out of the top 5, yes but highly unlikely. Besides with 2 1st round picks and 3 seconds we would have a lot of flexibility.

But think about if for a minute and read some of the scouting reports. What Eastern European player ever led his team to a cup?

If we don't land Yail, lets have some patience and go for a Crosby type player like Mckinnon!
