From a purely selfish point of view as a Flyers' fan, I would want any potential barrier to a successful Cup run to be avoided and that includes injured stars playing in the Olympics. I understand the significance of any athlete representing his country so Forsberg's stance is not surprising and I respect him for yearning. But I would also hope that he realizes the magnitude of his importance to his Flyers' teammates, their fans and the ownership. I think, too, buried in the subconscious is the fact that the Flyers are not winning. If the team was ripping up the NHL, without Forsberg, perhaps we'd have a different opinion. I think I would.
