Murray had made some great moves at the deadline to set us up for the draft.
You started the pissing contest by pissing on my leg.
By the time the draft rolled around it's fair to say that most (not all) Sens were on board, but in January lots of folks were questioning whether the man who hired Clouston and brought in Leclaire, Kovalev, Kuba and Gonchar should be the guy to lead the rebuild. All of them were viewed as failures and Murray was also taking heat for not getting enough for Heatley (remember Cheecho?) and for swearing up and down that Clouston was the right man for the job, after Paddock had been the right man for the job, and after Hartsburg had been the right man for the job....and I heard a ton of people on the radio calling for Spezza to be unloaded for picks and prospects.
I have no idea how representative this board, or hockey phone in shows are, but talking about what Sens fans or Habs fans "want" or "agree to" is pretty slippery.
The point I was making was that there were competing voices in Ottawa last year about management and personnel, just as there are here, and that the Sens weren't as far away as many fans thought, and particularly those who wanted Murray fired and Spezza (among others) traded....
