Thornton would probably also have more value which would be better for a total rebuild.

I agree, which is why I'd prefer to keep Thornton if I had to choose one. Couture doesn't really have the size or physical dominance to be a true #1C. 1b/solid #2 in the future I would think. There aren't many centers in the league with the skill and size that Thornton brings.
