January 25, 1983 --Behn Wilson scored twice in a 5-1 home win, the first time the Devils played in Philly. Wilson's first goal came with two seconds left in the opening period. Bob Froese picked up the victory to improve to 7-0-0 and became the first goalie since Wayne Thomas of Montreal in 1972-73 to start his career 7-0-0. The Flyers outshot NJ 38-19. There was a 30-minute bench-clearing brawl in the second period which resulted in 74 PIMs ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjHMvbTAdpQ ) and ejections of five players: Philly's Frank Bathe, Paul Holmgren and Glen Cochrane (PHI) and NJ's Don Lever and John Wensink. The main fight originated when Hector Marini (NJ) and Cochrane (Philly) fought for the third time this season then Holmgren, who earned an instigator penalty, tried to goad Garry Howatt which led to the bench-clearing but since the NHL couldn't determine which team came off the bench first, each team was docked $2500 which infuriated NJ's brass. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj55S2N8RbM). Twelve seconds after the main clash, with Philly up 3-1, Wilson scored his second of the game. Philly held a 30-8 shots advantage after two periods (38-19 in the game).

The game totalled 10 PIMs. It was the second straight shootout loss for the Flyers in as many days leading Blair Betts to say “You can feel it (lack of passion). The atmosphere was light and there wasn’t enough emotion or intensity, even before we went on the ice.
