Colin Fraser Nominated for the Masterton Trophy

Colin Fraser has been selected as the Kings’ nominee for the Masterton Trophy, awarded after every season to the player who “best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.’’ The award is named in honor of Bill Masterton, a Minnesota North Stars played who died in 1968 as a result of a head injury suffered during a game. Fraser was nominated by members of the Los Angeles chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association. The PHWA will vote for the winner, who will be announced in June.

Fraser, 27, was part of a controversial trade from Edmonton to the Kings last June. Foot surgery followed, and Fraser didn’t make his Kings debut until mid-November, but has since established himself as a lineup regular as the fourth-line center. His hard work, humility and good nature have made him a popular teammate. Fraser has one goal and five assists in 55 games this season.
