We have no forecheck, so we immediately tilt the ice in the direction of Vokoun and bring the majority of the game to our end, keeping us on our heels.
P303 and Smokey have nailed our biggest problem IMO: Lousy forecheck (and almost as lousy backcheck). Like it or not, Trotz's system is built almost entirely around it. Legwand and Walker historically have been our key forecheckers. Walker doesn't have the speed right now to do it. Johnson CANT do it any more and Vladdy (who could) is gone. Both were good at this in the past. Adding a big d-man will not help, as adding Sillinger didn't help. We need Legwand and the old Walker. Combined with Erat and Sully that may be enough. In the longer term, we need a 2nd and 3rd line center with speed or a different system.
