i think he's forgotten what the word "pass" means, unless he's cycling the puck. a shot is never a bad thing, but when you have 17 guys hooking you down to the ice, you probably should try to get the puck to someone who is open every once in a while...your backhanded shots with nothing on them won't exactly go in very often.
What he deserves and what we need from him are two different things.
I'd love to be able to throw him on the 3rd line. But we need what he can bring.
