The Bruins didn't get Bill Guerin, they just rented him for 100 games or so. All they got for their investment in Guerin was a $5 million arbitration award, a first-round playoff exit, and a compensatory pick for losing him as a UFA.

Doug Weight and Bill Guerin had reached the stage of their careers where the CBA works in their favor in helping them get big pay-days. Mike Comrie, on the other hand, isn't. That's why Lowe's in a much better position this time than he was in those previous deals.
