I think these things all have to do with it, but most importantly the last one. Refs just don't give calls to young guys to try and teach them to stay on their feet, and for the same reason they call things tighter on them. Refs just aren't afraid to make bad calls or non call on young players, and the team is full of guys in that position.
It's pretty shameful though that the discrepancy is that high. Especially when the playoff race will be decided by one point, or even a tie breaker, and the refs have screwed them in that many games this year just because they're young.
These two are the biggest factors, IMO. You almost never see an Avalanche player talking to the officials about missed or bad calls against. Hejduk is the Captain, but I don't think I've seen him do this once. I've seen Lando, Stastny, Downie (mostly yelling LOL), and EJ do this, but it is very infrequent.
