Even if you replace Markov with a lesser talent, simply Bob Gainey is not going to trade two key prospects that are a HUGE part of Montreals future. Also, Hamrlik turns what, 30 this year. The CBA could very well lower UFA, meaning he could be unrestricted sooner rather than later. The fact it is interconference, and would be a PR hit in Long Island, Gainey would make you overpay big time.

But really the only factor is, two top prospects are not going in a trade. Montreal is rebuilding, not much can help this team right now.
