I follow the Devils, and they're year-in year-out the team that gets the fewest powerplays (and also the team that faces the fewest powerplays, but that's a topic for a different thread). I don't feel the Devils are wronged or hard done by - they just don't generally sustain the kind of offensive pressure that so often leads to a penalty call (their ofense tends to come in short bursts rather than sustained attacks). I think most here will concede that they are one of the 'better teams' in the NHL - but they don't (and shouldn't) get more PP's as a result of it.

The Devils really don't fit into this, because yes as you say they get fewer PP's and are also shorthanded far fewer than any team in the NHL over the last few seasons.

IMO they are more the exception than the rule.
