During the '92 playoffs, there was a lot of debate in my 8th grade math class as to whether the Rangers or the Devils were going to win their playoff series. I knew nothing really about hockey, but I came down on the side of the Rangers. The Devils fans had the last laugh when the Pens ousted the Rangers, though.

The following year, I went to a Devils game against Pittsburgh with a friend of mine who was a Devils fan (I still have a Devils hat somewhere in my parents' house, I think!), but for some reason, I was much more drawn to the Rangers. I went to one of the last Rangers games of the season, against the Caps. It was a terrible game, I was annoyed that the Richter was in goal instead of Vanbiesbrouck (my favourite player) and the Rangers lost, but I was hooked.
