How will the Oilers be able to get 9 or 10 good players like the Avalanche have right now? How will any team manage it?
You are redefining elite to 7 or 8 good players. Otherwise, it is no fair. Any team that gets nine or ten good players gets rich and can afford them! Oh, boo-hoo. We can't have that.
The next generation of elite teams will apparently include the huge markets of Vancouver, Ottawa and Tampa. They might end up with 9 or ten good players, too.
Make Colorado lose 2 players and it gives the Oilers a better chance to end up with a healthy seven players. Wouldn't that make you sick? That some version of the team they have right now could push a banner up into the rafters next to the Gretzky-Messier banners?
