Well, it's tougher to analyse a defenceman, but here we go...
I wouldn't say Ottawa's blueline 'didn't miss a beat' without Redden in the lineup (we lost 5 of 10 games). He means more to this team than Chara does, in my opinion. Obviously Redden is a better player at his position than Gaborik is at his, but if you look at Cap issues (Gaborik becoming a RFA, Redden a UFA), it would be fair-ish if Minnesota were looking for a playoff rental in Redden and Ottawa looking to get something for a tough contract.
