I agree this is a stupid rule, but is something that I thought was common knowledge now among the media. The canucks early in the year kept calling up rookies to play for them and then immediately reassigning them back to the minors after the game (with no intention of them playing in the minors) all in an effort to save money. I think the amount was like 1500-2000 bucks saved per day. Here's just an example of one our players back in november. He said he spent a lot of time in airports.
