We have a GM who cannot assess the team or his coaches and who went into the season with Nervous Willie and his magic chalkboard as the most experienced coach. Can Smith or Chaisson help? Probably not much next year and did we really burn a year of Reilly's ELC so he could watch the most important game of the year from the press box? I have contended that Lets is a middle of the pack goalie who can get hot. i am more convinced than ever of that but really that is the least of our worries. Newy continues to be in way over his head and again we seem unlikely to make the playoffs next year unless we make materially changes.
It will be a long term project but we have to do something to start that project. Letting Grossmann go? I don't know if that was the best move. Not giving up on the playoffs? Not the best move to move forward with. Bringing in Chiasson and giving Oleksiak and Nemeth an opportunity to play NA pro? Great move. One long due.
I would really rather see 3 or 4 more rookies come onto the roster and deal with their growing pains rather than see us throw money at veterans who can't get the job done together.
