florida fans are (rightfully so) excited at bjugstad possibly signing, but the MN media has been asking he and his family a lot the last couple months and the feeling is that its about 50/50 on him returning for one more year at the university of minnesota. although it would be his junior year, he skipped his senior year of high school to jump immediately from his junior year high school to being a freshman in the WCHA (not easy)- so he is still only 19 and physically maturing.

his uncle played in the NHL for 10+ years (is his a big influence in his life, and is a shooting coach in the twin cities area- works with parise, etc in the NHL offseason) and said last week he believes nick should return for one more year. it should be interesting to see what he decides. with the top players at the university being freshmen and sophomores (bjugstad, haula, rau, budish, schmidt, alt) there is a real chance at a frozen four run again next year if he stays. then signing next april to hopefully step right into a roster spot at the end of the nhl season. we will see
