Yes he has the size to be a banging type of player, but it's not part of his mental make up. He just isn't a physical player. He's won't shy away from contact and he's not as soft as say Hlavac, but he's not a guy that is a willing participant in the hitting department. I've seen to many situations where he's decided to curl rather than follow through on a check to take the man out of the play, especially when forechecking. I get so fustrated because that is usually the player that winds up making the play, if you curl off a player and don't hit him, at least make sure that he's not charging up the ice un-attended which has often been the case.
