Heat and hockey gear

It's getting pretty warm in AZ, supposed to be in the 90's today and will certainly be in the 100's throughout the summer.

I skate after work, so I end up taking my gear with me when I commute. It gets pretty warm in the trunk, easily 150-160 on the really hot days (not yet, but give it a month or two and it will be that hot).

I've assumed that the heat isn't a great thing for the gear, so I take it in with me and keep it back behind my desk. I also don't want to risk it getting stolen, but that's always been secondary.

Is this a valid concern? Or is the stuff OK to leave in the heat? It's a PITA to carry it in, but I'd rather do that than risk it getting ruined.
