Of those 4, only Sakic lead his team in scoring. Asham finished 10th, 3rd, 3rd, and 2nd in scoring on Red Deer. Leeb finished 16th, 10th, 6th, and 2nd on that same team in his four full years. Nathan Smith finished 14th, 6th, 4th, and 7th in scoring on Swift Current.

I agree with your original point that you don't have to be supertalented to lead your team in points but your examples fall short.
