To me this story illustrates more the rangers amazing ability to turn cash into crap. Malhotra was about as close to a "Safe" pick as you could make.
Exactly. THN, who interviews many scouts from many different organizations, had Malhotra being drafted at (drumroll please) ... #7. He was picked where many, many of the experts said he should be picked. If you want to say that Smith drafted him too high that's okay, but you'd better be ready to target a lot of fine hockey minds for reaching the same conclusion.
