Many of those high-end guys already re-signed with thier teams, like Vinny L., Jerome Iginla, Joe Thorton, Martin St.Louie, Saku Koivu etc. There are very few "franchise" or even true "top Line" type UFA this summer. Evan Marc Savard is rumored to be staying in Atlanta, amd I'd hardly consider him a "franchise foward".

This year the BIG money will go to Dmen, even moreso than last year, and Bates' pricetag will not harm us there.
