The most incompetent decision the Rangers' management has made was in thinking that they could buy success on the backs of overage players.
Say it's fantasly land, and the Rangers make all the 'right choices' through the 90s. How is that a bad thing? They become the Detroit of the East, a true powerhouse for a decade and a delight to watch, but a team that still loses more than it wins to 'middle market' teams like Colorado, New Jersey, and Dallas.
