Which is what Calgary would be doing as well.

The only reasons Calgary wouldn't do this deal are; if they feel Connolly wouldn't be enough of an improvement over Lombardi (or someone else on the roster) as a 2nd offensive center, if they can get somebody better, could do something similar without giving up a roster player.
I don't think bargain-hunting Sutter will go out and get anyone better.
If Sutter doesn't pick up a true #1 center and they regard Lombardi highly as a player who can fill an offensive role this season, maybe they don't get anybody at all.
But if they can do it without a roster player moving, than it is obviously the better option.

All in all though, the value really isn't that far off. Like I said, mid-rounder (3rd?) or equivilent useful player going to one the teams and this seems doable. Certainly nothing earthshattering needed to even out this deal.
