Add the fact that some of those teams just don't believe in Quebec, it is possible that nobody are looking back at this 'cause the idea was that you couldn't evaluate such a bad league, so you couldn't evaluate Giroux properly. On the other hand, he was in our own backyard. We also had the privilege to have a 2nd combine for the Q players which the other teams didn't have. And in the end, we ended up picking a total project, a guy that was known as a project, as a boom or bust....maybe just like Giroux. So project for project.....we picked a D because of admitted NEEDS.....So this is why this is bashed so much. And mostly on our end. Yet again, what I love about people in here who KEEPS bringing the "But we're not the only one who made that mistake"....can you just freakin go look at the main board, or in the different boards from all the teams that picked ahead of the Flyers and you will see some comments about "How the hell did our team missed him"......So we are not the only one. Yet, we're talking about what our own team should have made differently.
What's Fd up in this whole thing, is there was some extra attention on the Q that year because of several potential Forwards going 1st round... Giroux actually was the 3rd Forward from the Q drafted that year. Brassard and Sheppard both went Top-10 and didn't meet their NHL projections. They're not even close to the player Giroux has become... Everybody still missed him.
