Was the biggest mistake this year trading both Wolski and EC?

Hear me out on this.

Kreider played all of what 3 1/2 minutes last night? He is inexperienced at the NHL level and although you can see flashes of him being comfortable he is still learning to adapt to the NHL style of play in a very rough series.

Depth is one of the reasons many teams are able to be successful over the course of a season and throughout the playoffs as well.

Would it not have served the Rangers much better to have at least 1 of EC or Wolski for this playoff run? Can we really say a 3rd or 7th round pick will be the difference in our future? Having one of those two in last night would have been huge for this team. Both have playoff experience, both were with the Rangers for more then 1 year and know the system, and despite their inconsistencies both players have shown that they can absolutely put the puck in the net.

IMO this was a mistake by Sather to trade both players. Granted hindsight is 20/20 but if the Rangers were that serious about making a cup run I don't see how it could have been bad to keep at least one of them. Can any one here make the argument that either of them wouldn't have helped the team over the past two games?

Edit* Also having one of those two players as a depth player could have allowed the Rangers to not burn a year off Kreiders ELC.
