Please.. don't try and drill through the copper. Such a dumb idea, you're probably going to slip and drill a hole through your holder. Use a chisel and hammer, (but we don't have that copper removal tool at my shop shown in the video).

Once you can get underneath the washer, rip it off with pliers or whatever you can grip the washer firmly with. If you are just using a hammer to get the washer off, it will take forever.

Hammer the copper end into the boot.
