I think that plain and simple a lot of players' performances have fallen off.

There was a time when some here were mentioning "Pitkanen" and "Norris" in the same sentence. That's laughable now.

I'm MORE impressed now with Jones than earlier, because he is still grinding it out. But at his energy level now he's just not NHL.

Ditto Carter, who has obvious skills but right now belongs in the AHL.

I am beginning to question Gagne's desire.

Kapanen is doing nothing.

Brashear and Savage are fourth liners.

Forsberg looks sapped and annoyed.

Desjardins can't keep up. Ditto Rathje.

Meyer keeps turning the puck over inside the opposition blue line.

Gauthier looks dreadful at this early stage.

Clearly, they miss Johnsson and Handzus enormously.

And I gotta ram it to old Hitch -- if the Flyers are working on anything in practice, I sure can't name it. Their outlet and other passing sucks. They miss the net over and over again. Err, special teams. They're getting outworked along the boards. They seem to have no idea of what they're supposed to be doing as a unit. There is no jump in their skating.

Right now they might be one of the worst five teams in hockey. The sole glimmer is that the Rangers are, too.
