Aparently all is not lost.
The Flyers are on pace to win 40 games for the sixth consecutive season and for the ninth time in 10 seasons. The Flyers are on pace to record 100 points for the third consecutive season and for the fifth time in six seasons. The Flyers have finished in first or second place in the Atlantic Division for last 10 seasons (winning the Division Championship five times).
Center Peter Forsberg is tied for 18th the NHL in scoring with 66 points and is fifth in the NHL in assists with 50, despite missing 16 games due to injury. Forsberg is one of two players in the NHL who are averaging more than one assist per game (Forsberg = 1.02 assists per game; San Jose's Joe Thornton = 1.10 assists per game).
Left wing Simon Gagne is tied for 18th in the NHL in scoring with 66 points, is fifth in the NHL in goals with 38 and is seventh in the NHL in plus/minus with a +28 rating, despite missing 10 games due to injury this season. His 38 goals this season are a new career high. He is tied for first in the NHL in goals per game, averaging 0.69 goals per game this season.
Right wing Mike Knuble is the only Flyer to appear in all 65 of the team's games this season.
The Flyers are one of two teams in the NHL (Pittsburgh is the other) with three players ranked among the top 25 rookies in points (Mike Richards - 12th with 30 points, Jeff Carter - tied for 13th with 29 points and R.J. Umberger - tied for 24th with 24 points).
Goaltender Antero Niittymaki is third among rookie goalies is wins with 19. Niittymaki's 19 wins are the most by a Flyers rookie goaltender since Brian Boucher won 20 games during the 1999-2000 season.
The Flyers lead the NHL in man-game lost due to injury at 320.
