Also, since I wouldn't have a car I would like a hotel that is fairly central to everything, close to the bus/train station, shops, restaurants, consulate, etc. How is the Quality Hotel on Rideau?

As far as things to see, from skimming through this thread I listed the Parliament, Rideau Hall, The Mint. Anything else? What about restaurants? I am open to anything (Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Indian) but the person I am with is vegetarian.

I also wanted to go to a casino. Is the Casino du Lac-Leamy the main one? If so, is there public transit or a shuttle that goes there regularly?

Thanks in advance.
Hi again,

I don't know if bus or train is cheaper. Ask someone for confirmation, but I think it's easier to get to the core from the train station than the Bus Terminal, as the station is on the Transitway, which brings busses through downtown. Just know which bus is yours. I would have no clue, I don't live in Ottawa.

Attractionwise, there's lots of museums/galleries. I'm not sure if you're allowed inside Notre Dame, but it's pretty impressive inside (and no, I'm not confusing it with Montreal). you can rent a bike (Ottawa has BIXI bike sharing) and go down the canal, and behind the Parliament Buildings and Supreme Court. That's all I can think of for now. Are the tulips out yet anyone?
