I've heard all those players say they were happy about being there and participating in that special event. It's not because they express concerns about safety or performance that they're characterless wusses.
You seem like the typical fan frustrated about the NHL salaries and for that expecting the players to just die on the ice for their hefty paycheck. They're humans. -30 is god damn cold! I know, I got frostbitten when I was younger while playing outside in similar whether. Don't worry I'm sure everybody is thrilled about this event. They just don't want to get serious injuries in the process which is only fair.
Also, one thing to consider: the oldies (no offense) won't have to deal with checking and blocking shots. The Habs players will. And trust me, a big check at -25 hurts like crazy and increases greatly the chances to get injured. And Koivu was talking about the fact the league will cancel the game if it gets bellow -25. It was not his personal appreciation of it, so relax about those comments, you're overreacting.
