I am curious about teams possibly having to renounce rights to current import picks in order to take part in the import draft. As I understand it teams are only allowed to have 2 players from the import draft and that there is no reserve list, making 2 the maximum. I believe last year I read that Kitchener relinquished their rights to Landeskog as it was obvious he would be moving on to the next level. My question really revolves around the Sarnia Sting with Yakupov and Rensfelt and the unkown that surrounds current NHL CBA negotiations. Rensfelt I believe could go to the AHL but Yakupov is either OHL bound or the NHL, so do the Sting need to let his rights go or leave the spot open just in case? I'm sure there are other teams in the same situation and I'm not convinced the NHL shutdowns once again but the potential does exist so I was just looking for clarification. Thanks in advance
