and i'm much less impressed with the regular season than playoff performance, something this fanbase will learn if we ever make a serious run or two. first round isn't all that impressive either when people barely even remember the conference final losers after a couple of years.

Babcock has done what the past three years? Two one and dones in a row in Chicago. We complain about one and dones against the Wings when we were the 8th seed and had some pretty weak rosters. We moan about the Sharks when it was two teams with 51 wins meeting in the first round ... the only time the two teams that led the conference in wins met in the first round under the current format.
Until the deadline, this was a team of overperformers. It's amazing to look back to the opinions in October and the huge questions about Smith, Halischuk, and even Wilson.
Coach's messages do get stale. I'm not sold that we've reached that point yet. We're up against a good and very hungry team that peaked about a week before the playoffs started. Right now they are beating us by playing Predators hockey better than us. The glaring issues in game one were faceoffs and the PK ... we mitigated those but let our 5on5 defensive slip. We'll see what Tippet and Trotz adjust before Wednesday. It's not over yet.
