Pretty decent first period. We're playing a high tempo game, and when we get it going the Devils defense can't cope. They're trying their best to slow us down though. Brodeur's been having some trouble finding the puck. Keep crashing the net, and there will be a rebound for the taking sooner or later. We're really going hard at him, not allowing him to play the puck. Nice to see. It's almost paid off a couple of times too.

Bryzgalov's made a few really nice stops. Hopefully both he and the rest of the team can keep up the solid defensive play for the full 60 minutes. There's been a few really good defensive plays by guys like Coburn and Timonen, and in general we're clearing the porch a lot better than we usually do. Meanwhile the forwards are doing their job on the backcheck. Gustafsson's having another pretty strong game so far. He looks a lot more assertive out there, and doesn't lose quite as many board battles as he's done in the past. I wish Lilja wouldn't back off as much as he does however, he's allowing the Devils zone entrance much too easily.

Good job by JvR going to the net, no way he should be penalized for that. Nice hit after coming out of the penalty box as well. A physical JvR? He's even playing good defensively. Hope he keeps it up. Timonen's penalty was really weak as well, btw, as was the Gionta slashing.

Wellwood is just ridiculous right now. He's creating half our chances. He won't make the Canadian team for the Sotchi Olympics, but maybe he could try out for the speed skating team instead? His job on the pk, along with the others, was outstanding.

Great job on the goal by the fourth line. Read looking a lot better than he's done lately. Our 4th line is a lot better than theirs. That must be a great feeling for Lavy and the coaching staff.

Salvador taking an interference penalty with one second left on the clock... That's not smart.

Oh, and when did Grossmann turn into a power forward? That was a solid move by him, going to the first post.
