and i'm sure if you offer any one of those teams an equally-skilled right-hand man to play that position, then the chances are all(most) of them would say yes. the problem is that the right-handed defenseman just don't seem to exist.
erixon and schultz are probably close (though schultz seems to have more potential as of now). if it's a matter of schultz playing his natural wing and erixon or del zotto playing their unnatural side. i'm pretty confident that schultz would have my vote.
we have the depth. we might as well use it.
I'm just saying that we should keep an open mind when trying to speculate about prospective d-pairings in the future. Cap implications aside, I don't want to see us part ways with any particular defensemen merely for the reason that we have "too many lefties", you get what I'm saying. I do see the value in potentially moving assets to improve the team, but time and time again we have seen that those types of preferential deals are few & far between in the league.
