Too much risk for you. What if he somehow manages to finish NEXT to last each of the next two years. You get neither Ovechkin nor Crosby, AND you lose Thornton.

I've never seen the same team finish dead last twice in a row and get the #1 pick. In theory it's a good move, but you have no idea what will happen with that GM or his team between now and then.

Plus, if you do somehow manage to have everything fall into place in the next two years and get both of those players, you still have to hope that they turn into great players like Thornton, and not crappy players like Daigle, who was also a consensus #1. Or that they don't have career-ending injuries, or crash their new Ferraris into brick walls....

Too much risk. Keep Thornton, he's a stud and a proven commodity.
