Quote:
April 14, 2010 -- In Game 1 of the ECQF at NJ, Brian Boucher made 23 saves and was named the game's top star in a 2-1 win. It was Boucher's first PO start in eight years and his most recent victory was May 20, 2000, a gap of 9 years and 329 days which represented the third longest stretch in NHL history (Jim “Sugar” Henry went 10 years and 1 day between wins [1942-52] and Sean Burke went 9 years, 347 days [1988-1998]). The Flyers' PK went 5-for-5, each minor to a defenseman including a double minor to Oskars Bartulis in the third period, and the last time the Flyers played a PO game without a forward committing an infraction was in the same game Boucher last won (Game 4 at NJ in 2000). The Flyers were outshot 24-14 including 9-2 in the third period. Chris Pronger, who played a game-high 30:01, snapped a second period scoreless tie with a PPG. Mike Richards (1-1-2) made it 2-0 off a terrific pass from Ian Laperriere with 3:33 left in the second period. Travis Zajac scored NJ's lone goal with 2:43 to play. After the game, Danny Briere said “There’s a piece of furniture behind you guys that took a pretty good beating” a reference to a soda machine supposedly thrashed by head coach Peter Laviolette between the first and second periods.
