Burke's got an all star team in the head office of the Leafs. Problem is, GMing isn't actually team sport. There's only one final say each and every time. Dudley's a great hockey mind and I'm sure they respect the hell out of what he says, but in terms of the internal heirarchy he's clearly behind Nonis and then is only one senior voice among many - Poulin, Loiselle.

If I were Dudley I'd want a GM's job, of course, but I'd probably see coming to be AGM in Montreal as a more senior, and thus more interesting job. Frankly adding Bergevin and Dudley and keeping Timmins could give the Habs a truly top-flite head office in terms of talent evaluation. It would be a dream team from that point of view. Someone else clearly needs to specialize in contract and cap issues, because none of these guys are really grounded in that area, but hell.
