When a certain part of the prospect pool starts to stack up so much that their talent has a very small chance of ever being evaluated at the NHL level. It's time to make some moves if possible.

Because those players will never get a chance to gain value and become legitimately valuable NHL assets. If a GM were doing this he would have way better information than we do with all of the teams scouts as advisers. We are just throwing ideas back and fourth without the benefit of that knowledge.

None of that changes the validity of the discussion.
