I think there is too much raw skill there for him to fall outside the top 45. If he does, some team is going to get excellent value.
2 reasons:

1. The top 10 or so of the 2012 NHL draft class is richer in defensemen than normal.

2. The top 5 or so of the 2012 WHL draft class is richer in defensemen than normal.

Clarification: He is not a special player in my eyes but he will play five to seven plus years in NHL
because of his reliability in his own zone.

I thought Barrie was a middle second rounder a couple years ago but it did not happen. Even worse, his performance was far better than Severson.

Huska was absent for three weeks (WJC). The Rockets got bombed in the first round. Too bad Severson could not display his performance much longer. That's one of factors too.
