KINGS look to end COYOTES run and Advance to Stanley Cup Finals !

We don’t want to be known as the only other Kings team to make it past the second round, though.’’ (on Jonathan Quick’s game…) “We found a way to win the game, and he was a big part of it. We didn’t play very well in the second, and maybe even in the first five minutes of the third. That was reminiscent of what he’s done for us all year. We had maybe a little bit of a letdown in the second. I’ve said this I don’t know how many times, but it’s Quickie being Quickie.’’ (on what he thought after scoring the empty-net goal…) “Just excitement. Once I got around him, I knew it was over. Kopi was probably a little more excited than me. I don’t think he realized how big he is. He jumped about two feet in the air. He was about 27 inches above me.’’ (on the game…) “We didn’t have the offensive attack that we wanted in the second (period) and they were all over us. We found a way to bend but not break, and that is something that this team hasn’t relied on, but learned how to do that when we need to. We regrouped, coming in here, and it was back-and-forth in the third (period), but we found a way.’’ (on winning the series at home…) “There are multiple advantages from a rest standpoint. Obviously, it’s huge not having to get back on a plane and playing Game 5. I can only imagine how happy Kings fans are right now. They’ve been through a rough stretch. To win on home ice is huge for everyone is this room, but it was nice to see the fans get jacked up as much as they could. They haven’t had an opportunity to celebrate that yet at home."

If you heard them, the last couple minutes and throughout the whole game — as a matter of fact, the last couple games — but those last two minutes, it gives you goose bumps, it’s so loud there. They’re having so much fun. It’s a great environment to play hockey.’’ (on shifting the focus to the Western Conference Finals…) “Absolutely. We have to win Game 1 of the third series, the Western Conference Finals. That’s all we’re focused on now, is worrying about Game 1 and what we’re going to do in Game 1 and how we’re going to prepare to get ready for that game.’’ (on managing to make the sprawling third-period save…) “I don’t think I managed anything. I think Kopi did it all. He had the touch, just to be able to feather it right underneath me there. I got a piece of the first one there, and it was kind of through a screen. The rebound kicked out, and I was scrambling. That was a game-saver, obviously."

I thought every single guy on the team played their hearts out, and it showed on the ice, and that’s why we got those four in a row.’’ (on the Blues’ strong play in the second and third periods…) “They were desperate. They knew if they didn’t get one that the game was kind of out of their hands. We expected that. We didn’t play our best hockey in the second, but Quickie made some huge saves there. We played all right defensively, and luckily we got out of that second period.’’ (on reaching the Western Conference Finals…) “We knew, all along, we had this team in here to do it. Right now, we’re playing with a ton of confidence. Every single guy is feeling a part of the team, and that’s exactly what you need in the playoffs."

The last thing I can compare to this was probably my draft day, but this definitely tops it off because it’s more and we’re still going. Now we’ve got to enjoy this one, tonight — or today, since it’s 3 o’clock — and go have a nice day off tomorrow and recharge our batteries and get it going ahead.’’ (on leaping onto Brown after the empty-net goal…) “Nah, he was hit many times before that, probably harder than I did. [laughs] He will be fine."

I think everyone realized the situation, realized what we hear from our fans and how exciting the atmosphere is, but how you’ve just got to stay in the game. When Brownie scored that empty-net goal, then it’s game-on. [smiles] Then it’s everyone fired up, and you realize that it’s hopefully over, and you go from there.’’ (on winning now, after the Kings’ long building process…) “It’s just a long haul. We’ve been through a lot. There’s a lot of guys in here — this is my fourth year, and I know there’s a lot of guys who were here when I first came. We’ve been through a lot together: two first-round exits, some great regular seasons, those couple years we had, and building something special here. Then we add some pieces here and there, a couple good trades, a couple young guys coming up and stepping in and playing huge roles for us, and then just everything coming together at the right time. Great goaltending, on out. Things are clicking.’’ (on whether he ever had doubts about the Kings’ building process…) “No. We still had the people in this room, the core guys in here. I think any time you’re trying to build something, you’ve got to make sure you have that good core group. Once you start dipping into your core, and losing guys from that, then maybe it’s an uphill battle. But we had those guys in here all along. Then you just add those pieces, like I said, and guys are playing well, guys are playing together and we’re all caring about the right things and having the right attitude every single game."

So, if you can try and do some of the things you were doing at the start of each period, that’s what you try to do at the start of the third period.’’ (on whether he told the team to give its best 20 minutes…) “They don’t each play 20 minutes. They each play a minute and a half to seven or eight minutes. It’s more of a shift-to-shift thing.’’ (on Jonathan Quick’s play…) “I think you need great goaltending to win every game that you play in the playoffs.’’ (on how long the Kings should be satisfied…) “Until we see what the schedule is and who we play. They should be satisfied, shouldn’t they?’’ (on Dustin Brown’s play in the playoffs thus far…) “I think it was fitting that he scored the winner. I think we saw some pretty tough guys score goals tonight. I mean, Jordy [Jordan Nolan] didn’t play much. He scored a big goal and had a big fight. He was just as important in that win tonight as Dustin Brown was, that’s for sure.’’ (on the growth of the team…) “It’s like I tell them, `Meet the challenge but enjoy the experience.’ Experience the experience. It’s the only way to do it. It’s a big part of getting better, or learning. It’s the best way."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER
