I loved watching Bourque raise the Cup as much as anyone...but...that story would have been a
million times better had he done it with Boston.
If the Devils win the Cup then I'd say the odds are on him retiring...but it's far from a given. If he thinks he still has some hockey left in him there's no reason to just walk away. The going out on top thing always seems to make more sense for players going out with their first ring to me. If the Devils win then Marty will be entering a summer from which he has ample experience with...if he still wants to play hockey and he's still able to do so at a competitive level, then why stop?
At this point of a player's career it is rarely about having something to prove; it's about having a passion for the game they've known their entire life.
